Westfield Zei220 Modifications- March 2005

After the emerald mapping session it was apparent that there was
more work to do, a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and a linear
throttle positionsensor. The bigger injectors mean that I can lose
the resistor box that I'd installed to make the ford injectors work
with the emerald. The TPS won't fit directly onto the cosworth
body as the spindle is just slightly to far round. There's a number
of ways to deal wth this but I just made up an adaptor plate that
allowed me to swivel it round by 15°. I've had to twiddle the
map a bit but it's perfectly driveable for now and there's little
point expending effort fiddling further between now and the remap
at emerald once the new turbo is there.
One thing that I've been meaning to do for ages and have only just
been able to do is to weigh the car. Thanks to Steve Wisemans
scales which were on loan to Tim Hoverd I was able to discover
that it weighs 707KG when equipped with sidescreens, all fluids
and 20 litres of fuel.
| Left | Right |
| Front | 172.6 | 193.2 | 52% |
| Rear | 179.6 | 161.8 | 48% |
The particularly gratifying thing is that once I'm sitting in
the car the rear weight balance is within 3KG. The front though
is a diffent story, with an extra 50KG on the drivers side.
| Left | Right |
| Front | 170.4 | 220.2 | 47% |
| Rear | 216.2 | 219 | 53% |
The laden setup, with 53% weight on the rear wheels is just about
right for a nice controllable, balanced setup.
