The Garage
As of Monday, December 1st we have a garage a short walk away from
our houses. Hopefully this weekend we'll secure it up and move the
sierra in there. The following weekend we should have a good
enough idea of what bit of Shaun (the sierra) we need to start
dismantling him properly.

The first thing to do was to secure the garage. This was done
with the aid of two big padlock bolts each one going into the
timber frame of the door about 18" from the ground. These were
reinforced with a block of wood inside through which the bolts
were fastened. They should stop anyone from having a go at
bending or tin opening their way in. We also got a pair of
hefty-ish padlocks both using the same keys.
We've put up some shelves to put the tools and other associated
junk on £ 20 from octopus. I've also removed the headlights
from Shaun and hung them up from the ceiling. This seems to give
us an hour of dingy light from a charge.

I've now put up the second headlight and its an improvement but
its not really going to be good enough for serious work.
Investing in some 12volt flourescent tubes should help, the
thinking is that should give us considerably more light and much
longer battery life. We'll also need a nice big torch for when
we're working on the less accessible bits.
We swept around the place and came to the conclusion that a
quick lick of brilliant white gloss should brigten the place
up. It should also have the added advantage of reflecting more
diffuse light around, thereby not blinding us and getting light
where we want it.

Fiddled with the lights. Better now than it was. Swept a load of
dirt out, the floor is actually concrete!
10/12/97
Got up early and gave the place a quick lick of white emulsion
before work, covered in specks of paint, some of it washes off in
the torretial downpour outside.
